The Tour Des Ports De La Manche, now in its 24th year, links ports in the Manche and the Channel Islands including Cherbourg, Délette, Guernsey and Jersey.
Chief Operating Officer for Guernsey Electricity Sally-Ann David said “Guernsey Electricity via the CIEG has a close working relationship with Electricité de France (EDF) and the network operator Réseau de transport d'électricité (RTE) and the local government in Normandy through our under-sea cable network which is linked to Periers, near Granville and Carteret – two of the stops on the Tour - so it’s fitting that we support this highly-regarded race.”
“The regatta not only benefits Guernsey from attracting hundreds of visitors to the island but it also allows us to continue to foster strong links with organisations and institutions in Normandy, many of which have links to the Tour” said Mrs David.
This year we also supported a new Kids’ Tour which comprised a two hour circuit within Cherbourg’s harbour. The event aimed to encourage young children to take part in sailing, in competition and for recreation. Guernsey Electricity was pleased to be able to support three local children to take part in the competition.
