On Christmas Eve 2004, the culmination of a month long competition to win a thousand poundsin cash took place. The thousandth telephone caller to Island FM, after hearing the three backto back tracks on local radio station Island FM won a thousand pounds in cash ! The winner,Gwen Merchant of St Peter Port was a great winner. ‘I can’t believe it !’ she exclaimed. Gwen’s husband was out at work at the time and he was not aware that Gwen had won the big Guernsey Electricity Christmas Prize. On handing over the winning envelope, Bob Beebe - Guernsey Electricity said‘Guernsey Electricity is delighted to be able to give away this tremendous prize of £1000 justbefore Christmas’. Gwen added that she had visited the new Bridge showroom recently to collecther game card and had kept it by the telephone ready for when she heard the three back to back tunes.When she finally got through to Island FM she said ‘I simply couldn’t believe it and I was shaking !’
