Bursaries with Guernsey Electricity

Our bursary scheme is awarded to students entering higher education.

What is a bursary? 

A Bursary is an award to students entering Higher Education. Currently it comprises a total annual payment of £2000 plus paid work experience of at least six weeks during the summer holiday and other holidays when appropriate. The Scheme will not affect any grants given by the Education Department

What is the time period of a Bursary?

The award is made annually. Bursars may re-apply at the end of the year for another Bursary.

What are the general conditions for entry?

Bursars will typically be resident in Guernsey and entering Higher Education in a subject that is relevant to Guernsey Electricity.

What subjects are relevant to Guernsey Electricity?

Whilst engineering is at the core of our business all other professions will be considered. Examples of subjects supported include; Accountancy, Information Technology, Environmental Studies, Project Management, Marketing and Human Resources. 

Is there any opportunity for full time employment after completing my degree?

Whilst there is no guarantee of employment, the Bursary Scheme recognises the significant time and commitment involved in gaining a degree and membership of the relevant professional body. Therefore employment may be offered under certain circumstances.
