Our bursary scheme is awarded to students entering higher education.
A Bursary is an award to students entering Higher Education. Currently it comprises a total annual payment of £2000 plus paid work experience of at least six weeks during the summer holiday and other holidays when appropriate. The Scheme will not affect any grants given by the Education Department
The award is made annually. Bursars may re-apply at the end of the year for another Bursary.
Bursars will typically be resident in Guernsey and entering Higher Education in a subject that is relevant to Guernsey Electricity.
Whilst engineering is at the core of our business all other professions will be considered. Examples of subjects supported include; Accountancy, Information Technology, Environmental Studies, Project Management, Marketing and Human Resources.
Whilst there is no guarantee of employment, the Bursary Scheme recognises the significant time and commitment involved in gaining a degree and membership of the relevant professional body. Therefore employment may be offered under certain circumstances.
Our bursaries are advertised on our careers page here. If you see a Bursary advertised in a subject you are interested in, then you should write to Guernsey Electricity indicating your academic progress, the course you are going to follow, and how this could be relevant to us, or come in for an informal discussion about the scheme.
