The electrification of heating and transport alone is driving the need for significant investment in the network. In anticipation of a fully electric future on the global journey to decarbonisation, Guernsey Electricity is committed to planning for the Island’s future energy needs and needs the skills and experience to deliver.
We have been making substantial changes to meet the growing demand for electricity as more people switch to electrical solutions such as electric vehicles. Electricity substations and fusing points across the island are being replaced, upgraded and modernised. And where necessary, areas are also being supplemented with additional substations to make sure they’re ready to meet the future demand.
In order to deliver this electric future, we need more network design engineers to lead the re-design of the network needed to enable Guernsey’s decarbonisation and journey.
The company is looking for experienced engineers or those with the ambition and potential to take on the challenge. They would be undertaking analysis, design and specification of electrical infrastructure systems for the high voltage and low voltage network on behalf of Guernsey Electricity and the Channel Island Electricity Group the pan island body which manages the subsea cables which import electricity from Europe.
