Guernsey Electricity project manager Sharon Watchorn said: “The cable laying ship, NKT Victoria, has arrived in Jersey on Thursday 3 October as planned. However, due to the strong winds forecasted, operations to lay the new subsea cable between Guernsey and Jersey will not start until Saturday 5 October, causing a delay of two days. This is also the case for all beach and land works.
“Unfortunately, a project of this nature is dependent on the weather and tidal conditions, which is why we built contingencies into the schedule from the outset. We are confident that the project is still on track and Guernsey will return to a greener, lower-carbon supply of electricity by the end of 2019.”
