The Health Show conference was a new feature of the family and community event, held at Les Beaucamps School, with inspirational talks covering topics such as nutrition, pain, mental health, to the importance of sleep and lifestyle.
The talks were sponsored by Guernsey Electricity as part of the company’s commitment to supporting the community.

‘The Guernsey Health Show had a fantastic turnout this Sunday and was really well supported. The conferences were new this year so we weren’t certain how popular they would be,’ said Alan Bates, Guernsey Electricity’s chief executive officer.
‘However, we had a great turnout and sometimes there was an overflow of people outside the room. The feedback we had also showed there was an appetite for such inspirational talks, with people asking for more conference speakers.’
As well as supporting the health and well-being talks, Guernsey Electricity had a stand at the Health Show manned by a team of expert employees who could answer questions about the company’s long-term work to make the island a better place. That includes planning for how developments in technology, such as solar power and other renewables, can benefit the many and not the few.
‘It was great to see the show grow in scale and popularity since last year. With the conference, demos, food and activities there seemed to be something of interest for everyone,’ said Stuart Blondel who helped man the company’s stand. ‘It’s pleasing to see that health and wellbeing is highly valued by so many islanders
Karen Martin, Guernsey Electricity’s Head of HR, who was part of the GE volunteer team that helped marshal at the event said: ‘I am passionate about the promotion of health and wellbeing and saw this as a great way to get involved personally and also for Guernsey Electricity to promote health for its employees and the wider community.
‘I was delighted to give up a little of my personal time and had the added bonus of hearing the presentations of all the conference speakers, which were excellent, a truly motivational experience.’
