Guernsey Electricity in partnership with Réseau de Transport d'Electricite (RTE) are proposing to install a subsea cable between the Vale parish in Guernsey and La Manche in France.
The GeM project is led by Guernsey Electricity Ltd, on behalf of the CIEG, the Channel Islands Electricity Grid. It will consist of a 90kV cable, a new substation on Guernsey, and connections into the electricity grids at each end.
The land route in France will be developed, permitted and installed by RTE.
The approximate length of the marine cable will be 54km. The entire cable will route approximately 76 km, between the electrical substation at Tollevast on the Cotentin peninsula in France, and Guernsey.
