If you’re looking to install your own renewable energy system, then ensure you opt for a system that suits your property and your budget.

Air Source Heat Pump.

By tapping into the inexhaustible supply of energy stored in ambient air, heat pumps can supply much more energy than they consume and help reduce our reliance on traditional, CO2 generating fuels. Unlike a gas or oil-fuelled boiler, most of the energy used is extracted from the environment, and only a small amount of electricity is required to drive the heat pump’s compressor.

For every 1 kilowatt of electricity used to run the heat pump, up to 3 kilowatts of useful heat is provided, giving it an efficiency of up to 300%.

Taking into account the entire production chain, an electric Air Source Heat Pump has the lowest carbon intensity of any heating source.

GEL sought independent advice from UK Carbon Emissions Specialists, WSP, in identifying the IPCC figures used in this graph.

With a variety of systems to choose from, solar PVs are a good way to heat your hot water or to produce electricity.

Photo Voltaic

Photovoltaics is the science behind the most popular form of harnessing solar energy. It is the process of converting sunlight directly into electricity.

Solar water heating systems use panels connected to a domestic hot water system to reduce or eliminate the need for the boiler to run in warmer or sunnier weather.

Whichever system you choose, you can be confident that with Guernsey Electricity you’ll get the very best service from fully qualified and insured Engineers & Technicians and the very best products from world leaders..
