The Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service attended along with Guernsey Electricity engineers to make the area safe.
‘Supplies in the area were switched off as part of this work, but no customers needed to be evacuated. Electricity was restored to the majority of customers served by the substation within 45 minutes. The remaining 20 customers were restored by 2:15am. The Rockmount is still without an electricity supply, but this is expected to be restored this morning.
‘Guernsey Electricity would like to thank the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service for their assistance. Repairs to the substation are now underway and a full investigation is being conducted to establish the cause of the fault however at this stage we believe the damage is limited to the low voltage equipment.’
‘In the future if any member of the public notices any issue with a substation or electrical equipment, please do not hesitate to contact us immediately.’
