Electricity

New to the island?Let us know your new address using our easy online form and have your electricity account set up

Update your electricity billMoving in or out? Don’t pay for someone else’s electricity. We'll need at least 7 days notice to set up your electricity account which can be done using our online form.

Check your low-rate time bandsLow-rate electricity times are assigned to a property, not to a person. That means the times you’ve become used to may be different in your new place, or it may not have a low-rate tariff yet. Check if your timebands are printed on your meter box and if not, give us a call on 01481 200700 with your new address details.

Need an electrician or plumber?We have a team of electricians on call for all jobs 24/7, or plumbers experienced in getting that much needed work done in the kitchen or bathroom.

Need new appliances?If you need any home appliance such as a new washing machine, dishwasher, TV, fridge freezer or even a new vacuum cleaner, shop online or visit our shop at Northside, the Bridge.

New electrical installationsIf you are considering something new such as electric heating, a hot tub or an electric car charging unit, we ask that you read this important information first regarding applying for additional power.

Guernsey WaterGuernsey Water need to know a minimum of 48 hours before you move out to organise a final reading and can let them know of your new details using their online form. For mains sewage, please also contact Guernsey Water.

Guernsey GasIf you’ve been heating or cooking with gas, Guernsey gas will need to take a final reading from your property. If you’re moving in to a property that heats with gas, you’ll need to let them know your moving in date and first meter reading.

Oil Heating - ATF FuelsIf you heat using oil, let your heating oil provider ATF Fuels know you are moving

Guernsey Post - RedirectSet up a postal re-direct with Guernsey Post to give you some time to get things done. For a fee, any post sent to your old address will be redireced and delivered to your new address within a certain time span.

Other servicesInform all States of Guernsey services that you’re moving to a new address using the post code of your old and new address
Finance

Banks, pensions and loansYour residential address is a critical part of proving your identity and puts you at risk of identity theft if it is not 100% accurate. If you require a utility bill to confirm your new address details, this is something we are able to provide our customers.

Home, travel, life and pet insuranceIf you have taken out any insurance policies, make sure you get in touch with your brokers and let them know your new contact details.

Car insuranceCar insurance is separate to vehicle registrationn and means you’ll have to let them know your details too.

Other servicesAccountants, financial advisors, advocates and any other service of this nature should be informed of your new address.

JTUpdate your phone and internet network provider of your new address so that the correct bills can be sent. This can be done online, by phone or visiting them in store.

TV LicenseIf you watch or record live TV on any channel, watch or download BBC programs on BBC iPlayer on any device (including mobiles amd laptops), you will need to inform TV Licensing of your new address

Satellite TVIf you watch satellite TV such as Sky, let the provider know your new address. Also check if your new place needs a new satellite dish before updating your address
School, Work and Medical

Let your Employer knowYou may have talked about moving house while at work, but your employers will need confirmation of your new address and contact details.

MedicalPrescriptions, medication, and appointment, inform anybody who takes care of your health. For example, GP practices, dentists, opticians, physiotherapists, mental health services - and vets.

Private Schools and UniversitiesPrivate schools and universities will need to know your new address for tuition fees and other correspondence.
Household

Open MarketIf you hold an Open Market Certificate/Permit or any other certificate or permit, please read this information provided by the States of Guernsey
