Cyber Security

At Guernsey Electricity, we value your privacy and security. Below are some guidance and top tips on how to keep your identity and personal information protected. If something doesn’t feel right, please call us on 01481 200700 (lines are open Monday to Friday between 8:30 am to 5:00 pm) or email us on customer@electricity.gg.
We will never phone you unexpectedly and ask for bank details.

We will never ask for your personal bank details. If you are asked to provide these details by a caller claiming to be Guernsey Electricity, then this is most likely a scam. Scam callers may use your financial information for fraudulent activity or to commit theft.

Top Tip

If you’re not sure whether a phone call is genuine, please put the phone down and call us back on 01481 200700, we can verify the caller and put you through to them. Alternatively, you can email us on customer@electricity.gg to verify any suspicious activity.

We will never ask for your passwords or PIN.

Guernsey Electricity will never ask for your personal banking passwords or Personal Identification Number (PIN). If you are asked to provide these details by a caller claiming to be Guernsey Electricity, then this is most likely a scam.

Top Tip

One of the simplest yet effective ways to increase your cyber security is to create a password that is strong and unique.

More guidance

We will only email you through our own domain.

Guernsey Electricity will only email you through our dedicated email domain ending ‘@electricity.gg’. If you receive an email from another domain claiming to be us, this could be a scam or a ‘phishing’ email. Phishing emails often look normal; however, they are used to convince unsuspecting recipients into giving up personal information and details, potentially putting your identify and personal information at risk.

Top Tip

Often scam or ‘phishing’ emails include links that may get you to enter your username and password on genuine looking but fake webpages, which will send the details you enter to fraudsters. If you become suspicious of an email, do not click on any links or download any attachments, even if they look convincing.

Some of our representatives do not wear uniforms, however they will all have an identity card.

If you are suspicious of a caller that is not genuine, do not let them in. Call us on 200700 or call the police.
